Picture Windows
Who
doesn't love a big picture window? A
carefully crafted opening provides a remarkable view
of the world beyond. Adopt a "window" technique when you
build your next card, and allow a glimpse
of a vintage image before the card is opened to reveal the
entire picture and greeting!
An easy
way to size up your window is to lay your printed, trimmed
image on the outside of the card. Use a ruler to measure
the height, width, and placement of the space that will become
your window. Then, make your cuts.
You
can also make creative cuts by running a sharp razor blade
around the outside edge of any household item that has a
flat base and unique shape, and which can also stand up to
the blade. Try a heart-shaped cookie cutter or the base of
a drinking glass. Finally, many scrapbooking tools
are also available to help you make unique windows and patterned
cuts.
