Embellished Denim
It
is possible that a denim jacket offers more options than
any other piece of clothing for embellishment! You can
trim the cuffs with fanciful fabrics or ribbon, add fabric
or ball fringe to the bottom, or swap out a denim collar
for velvet or corduroy. Buttons are easily replaced with
vintage ones, or perhaps pieces of vintage jewelry or even
vintage beads. But it's the images on our jacket that really
make it a work of art!
Breathe
new life into your denim jacket by adorning it with printed
images from the past. Cotton
Canvas and Inkjet
Linen from The Vintage Workshop® both work
great with denim, and they're easy to use. Just choose
a vintage image from our download
collections, print it onto
either of these durable printable fabrics, then stitch
it into place for a look that will last.
The fan
shown on the breast of this jacket (right) was printed and
then carefully trimmed out. Use this technique with a combination
of images to create a beautiful collage effect. You have
the flexibility to include as many images as you like! To
try the images featured here as ready-made collages, try
our Clothing
Collage Click-n-Craft® CD-ROM.
To finish,
try strategically-placed
Hot-Fix
Crystals to draw attention to an image. All
of these techniques can also be applied to a pair
of jeans, or even a canvas tote. The possibilities are endless!
