“Playmate,
come out and play with me,
and bring your dollies three,
climb up my apple tree.
Yell down my rain barrel,
slide down my cellar door,
and we’ll be jolly friends,
forever more.”

Don't Pay for Painted - Fake it!
At
some time, you have likely found yourself smitten with
a beautiful silkscreen or lithograph work of art. You might
not have recognized the printing process originally used...
but did you know you can capture the beauty of those bold
colors with Inkjet
Printable Gloss Finish Artist Canvas? What
better way to celebrate a vintage design!
Coated
on one side, Gloss Finish Artist Canvas is just that - a
fabric that mimics the look of painted canvas. Reproduce
a vintage advertisement or artwork in rich color, then sew
with the canvas as you would any heavy fabric.
To create
the bag shown here, print an image onto Gloss Finish
Artist Canvas and then trim off the unprinted white fabric
around the image. Use a bit of fabric glue on each corner
to secure the image to the bag while you stitch. Next, use
a decorative hand stitch, or machine stitch, around all the
edges of the image.
Our bag
was made with purchased vinyl and a basic tote design. We
added grommets to hold the handles, which were made from
a plastic jump rope. Be creative and make something unique!
