Father's Day is right around the corner. It's time to make something special and timeless for that hero in your life. Whatever name they go by - whether it be father, grandfather, uncle, or friend - create a card to say thank you for all the lawns mowed, bike riding lessons, food grilled and fish stories told.
FATHER'S DAY CARD
This quick and easy card shines with gold embellishments. Cut out brown card stock to the size of the card you want. Fold the card in half and outline the front edges with a gold paint pen. Use decorative edge scissors to cut out a page from an old book or magazine for your background. Outline this with the gold paint pen. Cut out a second layer for your background - here we used old sheet music. Again, cut with a different decorative edge scissors and edge with the gold paint pen. Print and cut out your focal image - we used the sailboat from IE144 - Father's Day Download Collection. Edge with gold paint pen. Now you are ready to embellish the card. We used a "Father" rub-on under the picture and glued metal brads on each corner. Finish with a personal note inside.
FATHER'S DAY GIFT TAG
This easy gift tag can be made by covering a ready made shipping tag or creating one out of card stock. We covered a ready made tag with the page out of an old German book. Cut out the hole in the tag and edge the tag with brown aging ink. Print out a focal image - we used the father and son image from IE144 - Father's Day Download Collection. Cut out your image with decorative edge scissors and edge with the aging ink. Now it's time to embellish your tag. We edged everything with the aging ink to give it that vintage feel. We took a strip of corrugated cardboard and topped it with a smaller strip of the same German book text. Then on top of that we used pre-printed scrapbook tag letters to spell "DAD". We finished off our tag with two tiny square brads, a button and a ribbon tied in the hole of the tag.
