Quick and Easy Projects
Creating unique Christmas gifts is quick and easy with help from The Vintage Workshop. This year is all about handmade gifts. Allow these two projects to inspire you to create your own gifts that are quick and easy and easy on the budget.
Vintage Fabric Ornament
This project is perfect to use up scraps of trim or vintage trims you might have. Simply print your favorite Christmas image onto The Vintage Workshop's Linen Fabric Sheets (leave the backing on for a sturdier ornament). We printed this image from Christmas IV in sepia tones rather than in full color. Most digital imaging software allows you to modify your color tones to sepia. Create a background for the ornament using our Vintage Wallpaper Download Collection also modified to sepia tones. Print the background on cardstock. Cut out the background about 3/4 inch larger than your Christmas image. Attach the center image to the background being sure to center it. Attach the your coordinating trims around the edge of the project and around the edge of the center image. To finish the look, attach a loop of ribbon to the top to hang on a tree or on a doorknob. Try embellishing the image with our Beadlet Embellishment Kit for a unique sparkly effect.
Vintage Gift Bag
This project is another one that is perfect to use vintage buttons and trims. Print your favorite Christmas image onto The Vintage Workshop's Linen Fabric Sheets. Try printing in sepia tones or in black and white. Cut a piece of fabric or felt about 3/4 inch larger than your focal image. For a vintage look, hand stitch the image to the background fabric using embroidery floss and a decorative stitch. Then hand stitch the entire piece on onto the gift bag. Embellish using vintage buttons, rhinestones or other decorative pieces to finish the look. This bag can be used to hold a gift or be the gift itself.
